Award-winning gospel music group Anthony Brown and group therAPy and fellow star artist Maurette Brown Clark made a stop in Freeport as a part of their concert tour. Zion Cathedral was the second stop on the 11-city tour titled “The Therapy Tour.”
Concertgoers filed into Zion Cathedral on Oct. 9 for concert and worship experience. Prior to the Freeport concert, which is the only concert stop in the Northeast U.S., the tour kicked off on Oct. 2 at the Transformation Center Church in Savannah, Georgia.
The Therapy Tour is advertised as a spiritually healing experience through the presence of God.
The next tour stop is Oct. 16 at the New Generation Church in Mobile, Alabama. The rest of the stops will be in North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and Tennessee. The tour will conclude on Nov. 13 at the Morning Star Baptist Church in Woodlawn, Maryland.
Doretha Sampson, Shirley Daley, Ashia Bello, Nicole Wilson, Cherlita Claiborne, Martellies Warren, Gabriel Hansborough and Javan Bowden make up group therAPy, which got its start with Brown in a self-titled album in August 2012. The album reached an 130th placement in The Billboard 200 and 3rd on the Gospel Albums charts.
Since then, the group has released six more albums in addition to singles, highlighted by songs like “Worth” and “Trust in You.”
Maurette Brown Clark, a Long Island native, is a more seasoned gospel artist, having several albums chart highly on the Billboard Gospel Albums since her solo debut in 1998. Prior to that, Clark was a part of Richard Smallwood’s singing group Vision since its inception in 1996 before his death late last year.
She has released five solo albums with songs “Just Want to Praise You” and “It Ain’t Over” as standouts.
