The Freeport Public School District recognized academic excellence and leadership as 139 students were inducted into the National Honor Society chapter at Freeport High School during a ceremony held on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m.
The induction honored eleventh- and twelfth-grade students for their achievement in scholarship, leadership, service and character. With this year’s class, the Freeport High School chapter now includes 231 members.
“We are immensely proud of our students and the dedication required to attain this distinguished honor,” said Interim Superintendent of Schools Alice Kane.
“Their determination to exceed expectations reflects the value of goal-setting and perseverance. These students exemplify leadership and service, and we look forward to the positive contributions they will continue to make.”
The ceremony included welcoming remarks from National Honor Society Advisor Ms. Brianne Underwood, opening comments from district leaders, the formal presentation of inductees and recognition of the core principles that define the National Honor Society.
