Pirate Fest sets sail on Freeport's Nautical Mile

Residents set sail off the coast of the Nautical Mile on Halloween with the 2026 Pirate Fest. Attendees got to get into costume and enjoy some community fun with one another.

Pirate Fest, which was originally scheduled in September, featured an array of activities for children and families on the Nautical Mile, located on Freeport’s Woodcleft Avenue. The event had to be rescheduled due to the Nor’easter storm that caused flooding in the village’s low-lying areas.

A scavenger hunt, costume contest, buccaneer bazaar and other activities were featured. Additionally community members got to get on the water with rides provided by the Freeport Water Taxi and Tours company.

This year was the second-ever Pirate Fest, with Robyn Workman, founder and owner of the Sparkle on Stage Cultural Arts Center, again leading out in the event’s organization efforts.

The event was intended as a way to generate more interest in the Nautical Mile and its businesses from the surrounding communities. Although the summer may be over, several activities and commerce opportunities can possibly keep Nautical Mile businesses and patrons busy throughout Long Island’s colder months.
