Freeport Public Schools provide spaces for learning, growing and soaring

Freeport is home to the Freeport Union Free School District, a PK–12 public school system serving approximately 6,000 students across eight schools, according to district data. The district operates under a single, unified structure, providing a continuous educational pathway from prekindergarten through high school.

The district includes five elementary schools, an intermediate school for grades 5-6, a middle school for grades 7-8 and Freeport High School. This structure is designed to support academic consistency, student development and coordinated curriculum alignment as students advance through each level of instruction.

District officials emphasize academic achievement, equity and student support, along with expanded programming in the arts, athletics, STEM education and career readiness. Elementary Schools (Pre-K–4)

Bayview Avenue School of Arts & Sciences

This school offers a curriculum that integrates science and the arts, encouraging

creativity and inquiry from an early age. Bayview fosters a hands-on learning

Leo F. Giblyn Elementary School

Giblyn focuses on building strong foundations in literacy and math, with a nurturing

Columbus Avenue School (Pre-K only)

Archer Street Elementary School

New Visions Elementary School

Intermediate School (Grades 5–6)

Caroline G. Atkinson Intermediate School

Serving all fifth and sixth graders in Freeport, Atkinson acts as a bridge between

Middle School (Grades 7–8)

John W. Dodd Middle School

Freeport High School

A hub of academic achievement and student pride, Freeport High School offers a
