Mardi Gras fundraiser fun for all guests

In a vibrant display of community support, Sparkle on Stage Cultural Arts Center hosted a festive Mardi Gras fundraiser on February 10th.

Attendees gathered to celebrate and contribute to the center’s mission of promoting arts and culture in the local area.

Robyn Workman, owner and proprietor at Sparkle on Stage, described the event as a success wherein much fun was had, with a turn out of around 20 to 25 people.

Attendees immersed themselves in the lively atmosphere, enjoying activities such as blackjack tables, trivia games, and live music performed by the Chuk Fowler Trio.

Food was provided by The Jerk and drinks were provided by BrewSA drinking company, which is just across the street from Sparkle On Stage.

Generosity was abundant throughout the evening, with attendees enthusiastically participating in fundraising efforts. The event garnered significant donations, raising thousands of dollars to support Sparkle on Stage’s initiatives.

Local businesses also rallied behind the cause, contributing gift baskets, gift certificates, and other donations. The Brew, a nearby establishment, generously provided complimentary beer for attendees, while board members of Sparkle on Stage donated wine and Sangria.

“People were generous. They had a great time with the blackjack table. The food from the jerk was awesome. Brew was awesome,” said Workman. “Everybody had a good time,” she continued. “You know, that’s what’s it’s really important. Everybody had a really good time. And we’re thinking about making this an annual event”

Mayor Robert Kennedy made a special appearance with his wife, expressing personal support and contributing to the fundraising efforts.

Other notable guests included legislator Seth Koslow and Democratic Hempstead town board candidate Jasmine Peña, as well as other prominent community members.

Reflecting on the event’s success, Workman expressed gratitude for the community’s unwavering support and generosity. Plans are already underway to make the Mardi Gras fundraiser an annual tradition, ensuring continued support for Sparkle on Stage’s vital cultural initiatives.

The outpouring of support reaffirmed the center’s significance within the community and underscored the importance of fostering arts and culture for all.

As the event concluded, attendees departed with hearts full of joy and a shared commitment to nurturing creativity and expression within the local community.

Workman has expressed a desire to make the fundraiser an annual event. Sparkle on Stage Cultural Arts Center looks forward to continuing its mission with the ongoing support of its dedicated supporters and patrons.
