During its 58th Annual Scholarship and Honors Awards Night, Freeport High School recognized the hard work, dedication and achievements of the Class of 2026. Students, families, teachers and the community gathered together to celebrate the accomplishments of graduating seniors as they prepare to embark on their next chapter in life.

In her introduction to the program on June 2, Principal Gisselle Campbell-Ham described the evening as “more than an awards ceremony,” calling it “a celebration of hard work, resilience, leadership and the dreams that our students have worked tirelessly to achieve.” She noted that each scholarship not only provided financial support, but also a belief in the students’ ability to make a change in the world.

Due to the generosity of donors, alumni, community organizations, staff members and families, more than 250 scholarships were able to be given out,  worth up to $100,000. The scholarships congratulated students for their academic excellence, leadership, community service, extracurricular involvement and personal achievement. Campbell-Ham also highlighted the collaborative effort behind the selection process, thanking counselors, assistant principals, faculty members and donors for their commitment to reviewing applications and supporting students. She also recognized the district’s Parent Teacher Associations for their fundraising and support.

The evening included speeches from school and district leaders, recognition of the school’s valedictorian and salutatorian, and presentations from scholarship sponsors.

The event showcased the strong partnership between the school and the Freeport community, whose support continues to welcome graduating seniors. Addressing the Class of 2026 directly, Campbell-Ham congratulated students on their perseverance and accomplishments, concluding by saying that success is measured by “the kindness you show, the lives you impact and the determination you carry with you throughout life. Your future is bright and the best is yet to come.”
