A man who robbed 10 businesses in Lynbrook and other areas of Nassau County was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
On Jan. 2, Shane Cashmore, 32, pleaded guilty to five counts of first-degree robbery and one of first-degree attempted robbery stemming from crimes he committed at fast food restaurants and stores while armed with a large knife or machete. The crimes occurred between February and April 2017. One of the areas he targeted was TCBY, on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook, on April 15, 2017.
According to prosecutors, Cashmore is a homeless man and was robbing the businesses to pay for heroin. He will be sentenced for eight similar crimes in Suffolk County next month.
