Glen Cove Beautification volunteers plant the seeds for a colorful spring

Posted

Members of the Glen Cove Beautification Commission and community volunteers gathered Saturday to plant tulip bulbs throughout the city as part of an effort to beautify public spaces and raise awareness of breast cancer. Held during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the event brought together residents, local officials and members of the Department of Public Works to support the cause while preparing the city for colorful spring blooms. The planting served as both a seasonal beautification project and an opportunity to highlight the importance of breast cancer awareness and community support for those affected by the disease. Tulip bulbs are traditionally planted in autumn, allowing their roots to develop during the colder months before blooming as temperatures rise in spring. The flowers are expected to add vibrant color to Glen Cove’s landscape next year while serving as a reminder of the community’s commitment to breast cancer awareness.
