North Shore budget passes, Galati and Macari win seats on Board

The North Shore Central School District’s $110.3 million budget for the 2020-21 school year passed on June 16 with 3,084 “yes” votes over 1,892 “no” votes, according to unofficial results.

With two open seats on the Board of Education, incumbent trustee Richard Galati was reelected with 3,585 votes and challenger Andrea Macari won a seat on the board with 3,255 votes. Fellow challenger Robert Mazzella garnered 1,782 votes.

Proposition 2 also passed 3,401 to 1,441. This will enable the district to utilize up to $3 million in funding from the Capital Reserve Fund established in 2016 for school improvement projects beginning in the next school year. These improvements include a renovation of the nurse’s office at Glen Head Elementary, as well as renovations of the boys and girls locker rooms at North Shore Middle School.
