Oceanside High School recognized the accomplishments of some of its most outstanding students during its annual Honor Night ceremony, an evening dedicated to celebrating academic excellence, leadership, community service and extracurricular achievement.

The event brought together students, families, educators, community leaders and local organizations on June 4 to honor members of the Class of 2026 for their hard work and dedication throughout their high school careers.

“To be here today, recognizing the achievements of this year's honorees is truly a full circle moment,” Edward Risener, interim associate principal said. “It is a privilege to be a part of this special evening, as we celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of our students at this time.”

Administrators recognized the support of families, teachers, district leaders and members of the Board of Education, noting the important role they play in student success.

Community donors, local businesses, civic organizations and faith-based groups were also thanked for their continued support of scholarships and awards that help students pursue their future goals.

School and district leaders highlighted recent accomplishments and ongoing investments in school facilities while also recognizing local veterans in attendance and emphasizing the community's commitment to supporting students.

“Tonight, we celebrate not only the accomplishments of our students, but also the community of support that has helped them reach this milestone,” Risener said. “Tonight is sure to be a memorable celebration of achievement, dedication and hard work.”

Among the evening's top honors, the school's valedictorian and salutatorian were recognized, along with students receiving major academic awards and scholarships for outstanding achievement.

Numerous scholarships and awards were presented throughout the evening, recognizing accomplishments in academics, leadership, citizenship, community service, athletics, education and volunteerism.

Recipients were honored by representatives from local schools, civic groups, veterans organizations, government offices and community foundations.  Several awards paid tribute to community members whose legacies continue through scholarship programs.

The awards recognized students who demonstrated excellence in areas ranging from athletics and public service to character, perseverance and leadership.

Veterans organizations also presented citizenship and community service awards, while local elementary schools recognized former students continuing their educational journeys after graduation.

“Those guys gave everything for our country, and when they come up here in Oceanside Auditorium, we show them every respect in the world,” Michael D’Ambrosio, president of the Board of Education said.  “Without these guys, we wouldn't have the blanket of freedom that we have.”

Throughout the evening, presenters highlighted not only academic success but also the importance of leadership, compassion, resilience and service to others.

Honor Night served as a celebration of the many ways Oceanside students have distinguished themselves both inside and outside the classroom. As graduates prepare for college, careers and other future endeavors, the ceremony showcased the achievements that have helped define their high school experience and the strong community that has supported them along the way.
