Three Things to Know

Oceanside Library launches January programs for all ages

Posted

The Oceanside Library is kicking off the new year with a lineup of January programs designed to inspire, entertain and encourage personal growth for patrons of all ages. From thoughtful book discussions to playful all-day activities and reflective wellness workshops, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this month.

Find inspiration at a cookbook club and “Change the Recipe”

A fresh perspective on personal growth and leadership takes center stage during the Cookbook Club’s January selection, “Change the Recipe,” by chef and humanitarian José Andrés. Rather than a traditional cookbook, the title blends storytelling with life lessons, highlighting how creativity, adaptability and compassion can lead to meaningful change both in the kitchen and beyond. Community members are invited to gather from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 11, in Community Room 2 for a thoughtful discussion. Participants will reflect on themes of resilience, generosity and embracing change, making the program especially relevant for those setting new goals for the year. Readers of all backgrounds are welcome.

Go on a “quacky” scavenger hunt for National Rubber Duck Day

Rubber ducks in clever disguises will be hidden throughout the library on Tuesday, Jan. 13, for an all-day scavenger hunt celebrating National Rubber Duck Day. Patrons can pick up a scavenger hunt sheet at the front desk before beginning their search, which starts in the lobby and continues throughout the building. Once all the disguised ducks have been spotted and marked off, completed sheets can be turned in for a chance to win a giant rubber duck. This event is open to all ages and offers families, students and casual visitors a lighthearted reason to explore every corner of the library.

Reflect and recharge with journaling and meditation

A quieter, more introspective experience will be offered during Journaling and Meditation for Emotional Healing, a guided workshop led by Danielle Bertoli. Designed as a supportive and welcoming space, the gathering encourages participants to slow down, breathe and reconnect with themselves through intentional writing and meditation practices. Running from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28, the session includes guided meditation, custom work and journal prompts, as well as group discussions that foster meaningful connection. Topics may include managing stress and anxiety, cultivating self-worth, building emotional resilience and embracing vulnerability. Participants are invited to come as they are and leave feeling lighter, clearer and more grounded as they continue into the new year.
