Holiday door decorating, a long-standing tradition at Oceanside Middle School, took on added meaning this year as the school welcomed younger students to share in the festive experience.

For the second consecutive year, Oceanside Middle School invited first- and second-grade classes from School No. 9E to tour the building and enjoy the creatively decorated advisory doors. The visit, held Dec. 19, provided an opportunity for students across grade levels to connect while celebrating the holiday season.

The morning began in the middle school’s cafeteria, where visiting students were treated to hot chocolate and holiday-themed coloring activities. Afterward, the group set off on a tour of the school to view each decorated door, accompanied by “Buddy the Elf,” portrayed by OMS teacher Damian Trum, who added to the excitement and festive spirit.

Each advisory worked collaboratively to design and decorate its door, showcasing holiday creativity and school pride. The younger students enthusiastically explored the hallways, taking in the colorful displays and interacting with OMS staff and students along the way.

The event is part of ongoing efforts by Oceanside educators to build meaningful connections between older and younger students. By opening its doors to School No. 9E, Oceanside Middle School continues to foster a welcoming environment and promote a sense of belonging across schools.
