Community members traded the summer heat for a taste of the tropics Saturday as the Town of Hempstead’s new Traveling Summer Luau series stopped at Oceanside Park.
Presented by the Town of Hempstead and Supervisor John Ferretti, the family-friendly event offered residents an afternoon of music, inflatable attractions, tropical-themed activities, mocktails and hula-inspired fun.
The Traveling Summer Luau is a new town program designed to bring free summer entertainment to parks throughout the community, giving families an opportunity to enjoy a tropical-themed celebration close to home.
“Summer is all about bringing families and neighbors together, and our Traveling Summer Luau is a wonderful way to do just that,” Ferretti said. “We invite residents to bring the whole ohana and enjoy a tropical getaway right here in their own backyard.”
The Oceanside event featured activities geared toward residents of all ages, with children, parents and grandparents encouraged to participate. Organizers described the series as a summer “staycation,” allowing families to enjoy music, refreshments and recreational attractions without leaving the Town of Hempstead.
The program is part of the town’s broader effort to provide free, family-oriented entertainment during the summer months.
With its combination of music, inflatables, mocktails and tropical activities, the traveling series aims to bring a festive atmosphere to local parks while giving Hempstead residents another opportunity to gather with family and neighbors during the summer.
