Warm focaccia bread and freshly gathered honey, tangy pickles and spicy salsa, handmade candles and hanging plants — the Long Beach farmers market features more than 30 locally based small businesses providing a wide range of food, drinks and goods.
Earlier this year, the market shifted indoors and took over the first floor of Bright Eye Beer Co., to survive the cold weather from January to April. Now it’s returned in grand fashion, sprawling across Kennedy Plaza to complement the warmer weather.
After this season’s successful opening day on May 2, the market has kept its momentum and offers a twice-weekly chance to choose from a wide selection of artisanal foods — bread, cheese, honey, pies and more — as well as live plants and handcrafted items such as jewelry, candles and soap.
You’ll find the market available Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine, giving attendees plenty of opportunities to support local merchants. The plaza is pet-friendly — just make sure the four-legged friends don’t help themselves to tabletop samples or leave any messes on the Plaza pavement.
Whether it’s a quick stop during a Wednesday lunch break or a leisurely start to a busy Saturday, the farmers market is an experience for locals and visitors of any age.
