The Village of Lynbrook’s proposed 2011-12 budget, coming in at about $33.5 million, is 3.6 percent higher than the current spending plan.
The tax rate for homeowners is expected to increase by a little more than 6 percent. Village Administrator John Giordano said that the increase is attributable to a reduction of village tax assessments.

It was standing room only on Monday in East Rockaway’s Village Hall as the village held its annual reorganization meeting. Francis T. Lenahan was sworn in as mayor and named Trustee Bruno Romano his deputy mayor. Newly elected Trustees Stanley Lombardo and Ed Corrado sat on the dais for the first time.

In his first address as mayor to a major village organization, Bill Hendrick was the guest speaker at the Chamber of Commerce’s monthly networking breakfast on Tuesday morning. Hendrick told chamber members that the village would be moving forward with a “believe, dream and imagine” attitude.

It has been a major transitional period for the village board in the last couple of months – former Deputy Mayor Bill Hendrick was appointed to the mayorship following the departure of newly-elected assemblyman Brian Curran, trustee Alan Beach was appointed as the new Deputy Mayor and Tom Atkinson was appointed to fill the last vacant trustee position.
