Phineas and Ferb spend the last day of summer creating “the greatest invention ever” in this stage version of the TV series, which ranks as televsion’s #1 animated show among tweens ages 9-14. The series’ follows the two stepbrothers while they embark on a new project each day of summer vacation. Their sister tries to get them in trouble with their parents, while the Perry the pet platypus fights evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz.
It’s a relatively basic plot with great kid appeal that also resonates with parents through witty songs and dialogue, and pop culture references. The stage version builds on that with humor, high-energy choreography, lighting effects, audience interaction, and 14 hit songs from the animated series, plus a never-before-heard original song written by “Phineas and Ferb” creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh.
This production, which began touring in 2011, marks the television series first stage show. “For the first time ever, we take characters that begin our show in animation and have them transform into live action right in front of the audience’s eyes,” said Producer Alana Feld. “While maintaining the integrity of the characters, we present them in a whole new way that can only be done on stage.”
