The East Rockaway School District is inviting residents to take part in a community forum to learn more about a proposed plan to realign the district. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 16 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of East Rockaway Jr./Sr. High School, 443 Ocean Ave.
District administrators will begin the evening with a presentation explaining the proposal, followed by a question-and-answer session where attendees can share feedback and speak directly with district leaders.
The plan being considered would reorganize the elementary schools by grade level, with one school serving kindergarten through third grade and the other serving fourth through sixth grade. The changes would impact both Centre Avenue and Rhame Avenue schools, and officials say the goal is to better meet the needs of students and the community.
All residents are encouraged to attend and take part in the discussion as the district weighs this potential shift. A livestream of the forum will also be available online at https://youtube.com/live/0PeW7IZdJjQ?feature=share.
