Lawn signs promoting the Lynbrook Fire Department’s 14th annual fundraiser for Operation Wounded Warrior will begin appearing around the village this week, as the department prepares to support wounded veterans through the long-running charitable effort.
The fundraiser will take place on Sept. 20, from 3- 9 p.m. at Greis Park, in and around the recreation building. A $20 donation includes food, live music from several bands, and access to more than 100 raffle prizes — including a chance to win JetBlue airline tickets.
The event benefits Nassau County Firefighters Operation Wounded Warrior, a nonprofit organization in its 21st year of assisting injured service members, both locally on Long Island and at military hospitals and rehabilitation centers along the East Coast.
Prior to the fundraiser, a classic car show will be held at Greis Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wounded service members and their families from the Soldier Recovery Unit at Fort Belvoir in Virginia are expected to attend.
