Lynbrook firefighters responded to an early-morning shed fire on Cherry Lane on Sunday, Oct. 4, spending more than an hour at the scene as crews worked to extinguish the flames and open up the structure.
The Lynbrook Fire Department was called to a home at 23 Cherry Lane at 6:27 a.m., with firefighters responding under the command of Second Assistant Chief Phil Tkacz, according to department spokesman Steve Grogan.
Members of Vulcan Company were the first firefighters to arrive at the scene minutes later. The company secured a hydrant about three houses away before members stretched a hose line down the driveway and toward the burning shed behind the home.
Truck Company firefighters also responded and worked to pull apart portions of the shed’s walls and ceiling, allowing crews to reach areas of the structure that were still burning.
Other Lynbrook fire companies remained on standby as crews worked at the scene.
Firefighters remained on Cherry Lane for more than an hour before clearing the scene.
