Lynbrook’s police and fire departments will receive nearly $292,000 in new equipment through two Nassau County Community Revitalization Project grants secured by Nassau County Legislator Cynthia Nuñez.

The $291,796.64 in funding will provide the Lynbrook Fire Department with automated external defibrillators and self-contained breathing apparatus, while the Lynbrook Police Department will receive new Motorola APX8500 portable radios and six-bay battery chargers.

Mayor Alan Beach said the funding will help support public safety by providing first responders with essential equipment.

“This funding for new portable police radios, AEDs and SCBAs will benefit the Lynbrook Police & Fire Departments and the services they provide to our residents,” Beach said. “The Village appreciates the partnership with Legislator Nuñez and her office in securing these critical resources.”

Fire Chief James DiGiambattista said the equipment is critical to protecting firefighters and residents, while Police Chief Brian Paladino said the new radios will modernize the department’s communications and help officers respond safely and effectively to emergencies.
