Hundreds of golfers hit the links Aug. 17 for the Lynbrook Mayor’s Golf Outing, which brought a record 334 participants to Inwood Country Club and Seawane Club for a day of golf, fundraising and community support.

The annual outing drew 222 golfers to Inwood and 112 to Seawane, nearly doubling last year’s turnout of about 200. About 260 people also registered for the dinner at Inwood, where winners from both courses were recognized.

Proceeds from the outing primarily benefit the Lynbrook Community Chest, which assists local residents facing financial hardships, as well as veterans organizations and scholarship funds in Lynbrook and Malverne.

This year’s outing honored longtime Lynbrook businessman Bruce Levitt, construction executive Michael V. Paladino and Lynbrook High School teacher Dr. Ben Tieniber for their contributions to the community.

Golfers participated in contests throughout the day, including the returning “Beat the Junior” competition, hole-in-one opportunities and a new air cannon challenge.

Outing chairman Jeffrey Greenfield credited the event’s growth to its honorees and the support of local residents and businesses.

“This year is a tribute to the outstanding honorees and the business community and residents’ support,” Greenfield said.
