Residents and local officials gathered for a Memorial Day ceremony inside Village Hall, after the Village of Lynbrook’s annual Memorial Day parade was canceled Monday due to inclement weather.
Mayor Alan Beach announced the change on Facebook Monday morning, stating that “due to weather conditions the parade is cancelled” and that the traditional ceremony at the Doughboy monument would instead be held indoors at Village Hall.
The ceremony honored members of the military who died in service to the country and included remarks from village officials, veterans and community leaders. Residents gathered inside Village Hall as the village continued its annual Memorial Day observance despite the rainy weather.
