Lynbrook Village Pool upgrades improve safety, summer recreation

As summer reaches its busiest weeks, Lynbrook officials say ongoing improvements at the village pool are part of a broader effort to keep one of the community’s most popular seasonal amenities safe, modern and enjoyable for residents.

The Village Board approved an additional $23,000 for concrete repairs at the Lynbrook Pool during its July 13 meeting after renovation crews uncovered damaged concrete and tripping hazards that needed to be addressed.

“There was a lot of concrete that was repaired that was broken and tripping hazards, and they fixed it all up,” Mayor Alan Beach said during the meeting. “So it looks great down there.”

Beach said maintaining the village pool has remained a priority because it serves hundreds of residents throughout the summer months.

“The village pool is a recreational facility many of our residents look forward to utilizing during the summer when kids are off from school,” Beach wrote in an email. “Like any public asset, it needs regular maintenance and upgrades to remain safe, reliable and modernized. Periodic investments in the pool also help avoid larger, more expensive ones down the road and ensure residents continue to receive value immediately.”

According to Beach, investments in recreational facilities reflect the village’s commitment to maintaining the services residents depend on.

“Residents expect their local government to maintain the services and amenities they rely on,” he wrote. “Keeping facilities like the pool in top condition shows the village is focused on delivering and maintaining high-quality services for its residents.”

Beach said residents have responded positively to the improvements since the pool opened for the season.

“Residents want to see modernized and attractive amenities that they will regularly use and can be proud of,” he wrote. “I’ve heard a lot of positive feedback about the pool upgrades, but we always have to continue to look for ways to improve and do more. We want Lynbrook Village to stand out amongst our neighbors in terms of what we offer.”

The mayor said community spaces such as the village pool are especially valuable during the summer, giving families, children and seniors a nearby place to cool off, exercise and spend time outdoors.

“Having a well-maintained local pool is a practical amenity that improves residents’ quality of life during the busiest time of year,” Beach wrote.

He encouraged residents to make the most of the village’s recreational offerings before the season ends.

“Take advantage of all the amenities the village has to offer,” Beach wrote. “Whether it be the pool, the recreation center, the parks and athletic fields, get out and enjoy the season because the summer goes by so fast.”
