Chineeka Davis is beginning a new chapter in her career in education as the new principal of Davison Avenue school in the Malverne school district.
Davis comes to Malverne with 25 years of experience in the Uniondale school district, where she spent 18 years as a classroom teacher before moving into school administration. Her career has included teaching second, third and fifth grades at Smith Street School, where she developed deep connections with students and families.
Davis earned an undergraduate degree in elementary education from St. John’s University, as well as a master’s degree in literacy from St. John’s. She also holds a master’s degree in education with a concentration in administration.
“Chineeka Davis brings a remarkable depth of instructional expertise and a proven track record of administrative leadership to Davison Avenue Intermediate School,” superintendent Maria Rianna said. “Following an extensive search, it became clear that her student-centered philosophy, commitment to high-achieving learning environments and dedication to nurturing creativity and the arts align perfectly with our district’s mission.”
Although Davis earned her administrative degree in 2006, she remained in the classroom for several years while raising her children. In 2018, she began her administrative career when she was appointed assistant principal at Grand Avenue Elementary School in Uniondale.
After four years at Grand Avenue, Davis moved to Northern Parkway Elementary School, gaining experience in a larger school environment. She later returned to Smith Street School, serving as assistant principal for the past two years.
Her move to Malverne represents a significant professional transition after spending her entire career in Uniondale. Davis sees the opportunity as a chance to grow professionally while bringing her years of experience to a new school community.
“My goal is to keep students safe, to make them happy and to ensure that they’re learning to their absolute fullest potential,” Davis said.
Davis said she has already seen similarities between Malverne and the communities where she has lived and worked. She described Malverne as multicultural, family-oriented and strongly connected, qualities that fit naturally with her philosophy of education.
“I want the families to know that they can reach out to me,” she said. “I’m just a parent like they are, I’m a community member like they are.”
Building relationships will be a major priority during her first year at Davison Avenue.
Davis wants students to feel safe, supported and excited to come to school each day. She also wants families to see her as accessible and approachable and feel comfortable communicating with her.
“I am confident that her collaborative spirit will inspire our students and staff and deeply engage our families and community, all while honoring the proud Malverne tradition of excellence,” Rianna said.
Her leadership philosophy is rooted in treating students with the same care and attention she would give her own children.
She plans to focus on student safety, happiness and academic achievement as she begins her new role in Malverne.
“I’m excited about the fact that I can take all the experiences that I’ve had in 25 years in another district and share that with the children and the staff and families in Malverne,” Davis said.
