The sounds of Billy Joel filled Westwood Park on Sept. 4 as the Cold Spring Harbor Band brought Malverne’s Summer Events Series to a close with a tribute to the legendary Long Island musician.
The performance capped a summer of entertainment organized by the village, which included concerts, an outdoor movie and live theater. The Cold Spring Harbor Band’s Billy Joel tribute has become a recurring part of Malverne’s summer programming, returning this year for the final event of the season.
The band performed a selection of Joel’s music, giving residents another opportunity to gather outdoors as summer drew to a close. The concert continued a series that began in July with the Nassau Pops Symphony Orchestra and featured events at parks throughout the village.
The summer lineup also included a performance by Risky Business, the village’s Midsummer Movie Night and Malverne Community Theater’s outdoor production of “Junie B. Jones: The Musical.”
The Sept. 4 concert at Westwood Park concluded nearly two months of village-sponsored entertainment intended to give residents of different ages opportunities to spend time together in the community.
With the Cold Spring Harbor Band closing out the schedule, Malverne wrapped up another season of outdoor music, theater and family entertainment across the village.
