Birch School students show school spirit during Fun Run

Posted

Students, staff and families at Birch School in Merrick came together Oct. 9 for the annual Birch Fun Run, a schoolwide event promoting physical fitness, healthy habits and community spirit.

Throughout the day, students took turns running laps around the school field as parents and volunteers cheered them on. Participants celebrated their accomplishments beneath a colorful balloon arch and received medals recognizing their efforts.

The fun run served as the highlight of Birch School's Health and Wellness Week, which featured activities encouraging students to embrace healthy lifestyles and prioritize their physical and emotional well-being.

Families and community supporters were invited to sponsor students, bringing the school community together in support of the event while reinforcing the importance of staying active.

Local businesses also contributed sponsorships, helping make the annual tradition possible. The Birch PTA and Fun Run Committee, made up of parent volunteers, coordinated the festivities and worked to create an enjoyable experience for students.

The event offered students an opportunity to celebrate their achievements, build school spirit and develop healthy habits while enjoying a day of outdoor activity with classmates and teachers.
