Nassau BOCES Barry Tech recently honored more than 100 industry partners during its annual Industry Advisory Recognition Brunch, recognizing business leaders who support the school’s career and technical education programs.

Among those attending the event were Barry Tech Nurse Assisting teacher Marie Brown and industry representatives Nancy Coogan, a retired registered nurse from Long Island Jewish Forest Hills Hospital, and Paula Magdalena Vidal, president of Autism Horizon Consulting.

The annual brunch brings together students, educators and Nassau BOCES board members, administrators, faculty and staff to thank industry mentors for their continued guidance, collaboration and support of student learning.

Barry Tech is a Nassau BOCES career and technical education high school offering more than 40 hands-on courses designed to help students develop practical skills and prepare for careers in a variety of fields. Instruction takes place in a state-of-the-art facility that simulates real-world work environments and meets current industry standards.

Classes may be held in settings such as an airplane hangar, horse-training stable, carpentry shop or culinary arts kitchen. After completing their studies, students may attend two- or four-year colleges, enter the workforce or continue advanced career training at technical schools.
