Families across the North Merrick School District set aside homework and busy schedules on Feb. 26 to take part in the district’s monthly Night to Connect initiative.
The districtwide program is designed to give families one designated evening each month to focus on spending time together without academic obligations. Students and their families from Camp Avenue School, Harold D. Fayette School and Old Mill Road School participated in the event by choosing their own at-home activities, including game nights, baking, crafting and outdoor fun such as sledding.
Each school’s PTA supports the initiative through ongoing fundraising partnerships with local restaurants, offering families an opportunity to enjoy a takeout dinner while contributing to their school community.
District officials said the program serves as a reminder of the importance of setting aside dedicated time for family connection through shared activities.
