Kevin McElroy has joined the North Bellmore School District as the new assistant principal of John G. Dinkelmeyer Elementary School, bringing more than a decade of experience in education and school leadership.

McElroy began his new role on July 1. He previously worked for the New York City Department of Education and spent 13 years at The Riverview School 277Q, a K-12 school that serves students with special needs. During his time there, he worked as a physical education teacher and athletic director before being named assistant principal last year.

He earned a bachelor's degree in movement science, physical education and health education from Springfield College, a master's degree in teaching students with disabilities from Touro College, and an administrative certification from the American College of Education.

At Dinkelmeyer, McElroy said he looks forward to working with Principal Danica Brugge, supporting faculty and staff, and building relationships with the school's approximately 430 students and their families.

"I'm looking forward to being a part of a close-knit school community where families are really involved," McElroy said. "I'm excited about getting to know the students and staff and being part of a school that has such a great reputation."
