The Lawrence Middle School Drama Club performed two shows of “The Lion King Kids,” based on the 1994 Disney animated musical film and the adopted Broadway musical. The kids version included the identical storyline in a condensed form.

“I am incredibly proud of Drama Club students,” Principal Willis Perry said in a news release. “Our performers worked extremely hard to create a memorable experience for their audiences and based on the reaction of those audiences, they more than met their goal. I would like also to thank the Lawrence High School crew members who contributed their time and talent in helping to make sure the shows were a huge success.”

Drama Club members performed the 10 scenes and sang and danced to the iconic Lion King songs “Hakuna Matata,” “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” “Circle of Life,” and “Just Can’t Wait to be King.”

“I am always amazed at our students’ dedication and talents in Lawrence schools,” Drama Club director Pam Gallopini. “Students had an amazing experience learning choreography and the choral components that went into the show.”

Gallopini noted the work of music director Susan Rogan, choreographer Inga Gerson, technical director Rob Verdone and pianist Brian Stabile.
