Long Island under Winter Storm Watch — 4 to 8 inches possible

Long Island and the greater New York metropolitan area are under a winter storm watch for Thursday into Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow is expected to start falling between 8 and 10 a.m. Thursday morning and continue into the evening. Accumulations of 4 to 8 inches of snow are possible.

“Travel could be very difficult. Hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute,” the NWS states.
