Town of Oyster Bay to open registration for fall co-ed fitness classes

Registration opens on Sept. 2 for the Town of Oyster Bay’s co-ed fitness classes for the fall season at the Hicksville Athletic Center. Starting in September, these 10-week programs offer a fun way to stay fit and meet new people. Open to everyone ages 18 and older, the classes cover everything from cardio kickboxing to yoga and ballroom dancing.

“Our great fall programs provide a fun, energizing way for residents to stay active while joining with friends or meeting new people,” Town Councilwoman Vicki Walsh wrote in a statement. “Residents can participate in a variety of activities, including cardio kickboxing, yoga, zumba, pilates, ballroom dancing, and meditation.”

This fall, participants can once again choose from a variety of fun fitness options:

Ballroom Dancing: Saturdays, 7–8 p.m., starting Oct. 3

Cardio Kickboxing: Thursdays, 8-9 p.m., starting Oct. 1

Pilates: Mondays, 8–9 p.m., starting Sept. 28

Yoga:

  Sundays, 8:45–9:45 a.m., starting Sept. 27

  Tuesdays, 8–9 p.m., starting Sept. 29

  Thursdays, 7–8 a.m., starting Oct. 1

  Saturdays, 9–10 a.m., starting Oct. 3

Zumba:

  Mondays, 6:45–7:45 p.m., starting Sept. 28

Wednesdays, 7:30–8:30 p.m., starting Sept. 30

  Saturdays, 7:45–8:45 a.m., starting Oct. 3

Yoga/Meditation:

  Tuesdays, 7:30–8:30 a.m., starting Sept. 29

  Saturdays, 8:15–9:15 p.m., starting Oct. 3

  Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America (“Orthodox Union”)

To register, simply visit OysterBayTown.com/sports to sign up. Registration opens Sept. 2 at 5 p.m. for residents, and Sept. 9 at 9 a.m. for non-residents. Town of Oyster Bay residents who have not used the signup portal will need to upload proof of residency (tax or utility bill) and a valid ID (like a driver’s license). The registration fee is $75 for Town residents and $100 for non-residents.

Participants must bring their own mats for yoga, pilates, cardio kickboxing, and yoga/meditation. Class schedules are subject to change, and if a session is cancelled, make-up days will be attempted. For more information, call (516) 797-7945 or email tobparks@oysterbay-ny.gov.
