More than 1,000 graduates crossed the stage at Jones Beach Theater on May 20 as Molloy University held its annual commencement ceremony overlooking the Great South Bay and Atlantic Ocean.

The Class of 2026 included 703 bachelor’s degree recipients, 295 master’s graduates and 30 doctoral graduates, among others, who were celebrated by family members, friends and faculty during the ceremony.

“This is always a triumphant day, and even better that it’s here, at an iconic Long Island location where we can all celebrate,” Molloy University President James P. Lentini said. “We hear a lot about challenges for new graduates, but our students have studied in practical fields, and they always find success when they leave us.”
One of the ceremony’s highlights featured Lentini performing Green Day’s “Good Riddance” on acoustic guitar alongside Molloy CAP21 theater graduates.

Award-winning journalist Jo Napolitano delivered the commencement address and received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree for her work in education and social justice reporting. Napolitano has written for The New York Times, The Chicago Tribune, Newsday and The 74, focusing much of her reporting on education equity and student opportunity.

The university also recognized two top graduates from Long Island. Isabella Schaefer of East Rockaway served as valedictorian, while Grace Wilson of Hicksville was named salutatorian.

“Isabella and Grace represent the very best of Molloy University,” Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Michelle Piskulich said. “Together, they embody the spirit of service and purpose that defines Molloy University and will undoubtedly inspire our graduates as they step forward into lives of impact and meaning.”
