Seaford and Levittown residents approved their school district budgets and elected board of education candidates on May 19.
In Seaford, voters approved the district’s $86,302,965 budget for the 2026-27 school year by a vote of 784 to 270. The spending plan represents a 1.42 percent increase from the current budget and includes a 2.26 percent tax levy increase, which district officials said remains within the state tax cap.
District officials said the budget supports expanded academic programming, technology upgrades, social-emotional learning initiatives and facility improvements throughout the district. Planned capital projects include middle school bathroom renovations, replacement of gymnasium windows and the creation of an outdoor learning space at Seaford High School.
In the Board of Education race, incumbents Jeqyoung “Jimmy” Chwe and Trisha Matulewicz were re-elected to the board with 674 and 639 votes, respectively.
In Levittown, residents approved the district’s $284,420,293 budget by a vote of 1,156 to 610. The spending plan represents a 3.76 percent increase from the current budget and includes a 1.98 percent tax levy increase, which is within the district’s tax-cap limit.
District officials said the proposed budget maintains staffing and programs while funding instructional upgrades and new course offerings.
Voters also approved a capital reserve expenditure referendum by a vote of 1,231 to 453.
In the Board of Education race, incumbents Jennifer Messina and Phyllis Dalton were re-elected alongside newcomer Daniel Larkin. Messina received 1,137 votes, Dalton earned 1,087 and Larkin received 1,070. Challenger Anne Marie Guerra received 639 votes.
