More than 900 guests filled Villa Lombardi’s in Holbrook for SCOPE Education Service’s 25th annual School District Awards Dinner on March 23.
To begin the night, George Duffy, executive director and CEO of SCOPE, welcomed all in attendance and offered his gratitude and thanks to all whose time and dedication were instrumental in planning the event.
This year’s program was dedicated to the memory of Jennifer Milillo, former SCOPE Awards Dinner coordinator. Her daughter, Danielle Marcello, accepted flowers from Duffy and was received with a wave of applause from the ballroom.
Duffy thanked the platinum, gold, silver and bronze-level sponsors of the evening and invited representatives from each organization to receive a plaque as a token of appreciation.
Robert Vecchio, executive director of the Nassau-Suffolk School Board Association, was given the National School Development Council’s Cooperative Leadership Award. Vecchio was joined by his wife and daughter, and he subsequently offered his praises to SCOPE and to all districts in attendance for the work they do for all students after he accepted his award.
The highlight of the evening was the service awards presentation. A total of 192 individuals were recognized across five categories: School Board Service, Community Service, Teacher Service, Support Staff Service and Administrator Service.
