Seaford High School seniors showcased their future plans as they celebrated National Decision Day on May 1. The soon-to-be graduates were encouraged to wear shirts representing their future colleges, trade schools or military commitments.
The college choices featured many schools on Long Island and upstate New York, as well as up and down the East Coast. Decision Day was a schoolwide celebration as administrators, teachers, guidance counselors and staff also proudly wore apparel of their alma maters.
“It was truly incredible because it showed how diverse our grade is with the many great schools everyone is continuing their journeys at,” senior class President Matthew Kind said. “It’s bittersweet that a lot of us are going so far away, but we are going to do great things at incredible institutions.”
Students gathered throughout the day to take photos with classmates and celebrate the next chapter in their academic and professional journeys. The annual tradition is held at schools across the country to recognize graduating seniors as they finalize plans for life after high school, whether that includes attending a four-year college, community college, trade school, entering the workforce or serving in the military.
The event is meant to celebrate not only where students are going, but the hard work and perseverance that helped them reach this milestone. Seniors will officially conclude their Seaford High School careers at graduation later this spring.
