From parade step-off to the end of the fourth quarter in the Vikings football game, it was a joyous day for Seaford students, staff and community members at the annual homecoming celebration on Oct. 17.
At noon, the parade began its ascent to Seaford High School, led by Nassau County Police and the Seaford Fire Department. Marchers included the Seaford School District Board of Education and administration, local veterans from American Legion Post 1132 as the grand marshals, and a plethora of teachers, students and parents. Each high school class showcased its banner based on the theme “holidays.”
The Vikings matched up against the Malverne Mules in the homecoming game and cruised to a 28-0 win in their sixth contest and final home game of the season. Spectators filled the bleachers and cheered enthusiastically as Seaford put the ball in the end zone four times. Halftime featured a performance by the varsity, junior varsity and middle school cheerleaders, followed by the Vikingettes dance club. The marching band then presented its dynamic show, “The Greatest Viking,” featuring a trio of songs along with acrobatics and an upside-down drummer.
The grand marshals were also recognized at halftime and the community expressed gratitude for their service to their country. Marvin Desdunes and Madeline Ulzheimer were crowned homecoming king and queen, with Julia DiPietro, Meridith Goldberger, Davien Perez and Jackson Pignataro filling out the court.
