After a successful inaugural event last year, State Sen. Steve Rhoads will once again bring together local organizations, health care providers and community resources for seniors and their families at his second annual Senior Health Expo and Resource Fair.
The free event will take place Saturday, Aug. 1, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Levittown Hall, located at 201 Levittown Parkway in Hicksville. The expo will provide attendees with access to information and services designed to help older adults live healthier, safer and more independent lives.
The event will feature health screenings, veterans’ services, Medicare and benefits assistance, wellness programs, housing and transportation resources and other support services. Representatives from local organizations will be available to answer questions and connect residents with programs available in their communities.
Last year’s inaugural expo welcomed more than 250 seniors and featured more than 30 resource tables covering topics including veterans’ services, Medicare assistance, home care grants and wellness programs. Attendees also participated in presentations on scam prevention and estate planning.
Rhoads said the event reflects his continued effort to make important resources more accessible to older residents and their families.
“It was wonderful to see so many of our seniors take advantage of the resources and information available at last year’s Expo,” Rhoads said. “Ensuring our seniors have access to the support they need—and deserve—will always be one of my top priorities.”
This year’s event will expand on the resources offered in 2025 with additional activities focused on wellness, education and social connection. Attendees can participate in a tai chi class, attend an estate planning seminar and enjoy a game corner featuring activities such as cornhole, Jenga and trivia. The expo will also include music throughout the day.
Organizers said the event is designed not only to provide information but also create an opportunity for seniors to connect with others and learn about services available to them.
Residents interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP to Rhoads’ district office by Friday, July 24 at (516) 882-0630.
