Two people were arrested last week after a Nassau County overdose investigation led detectives to a Wantagh residence where police said they found large quantities of drugs, cannabis, cash and other items associated with drug sales.
Nassau County police Narcotics/Vice Squad detectives arrested Jack Acquafredda, 23, of Bellrose Terrace, on Aug. 6 following an investigation into a nonfatal overdose of a Nassau County resident.
During the investigation, detectives searched Acquafredda’s residence and recovered approximately 41 grams of cocaine, 28.9 grams of MDMA, 1.5 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms and 5.3 grams of ketamine, police said.
They also recovered 132 pills containing amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, approximately 56 tabs of LSD, a clonazepam pill and more than 10 pounds of cannabis, according to police.
Detectives additionally found several hundred THC gummies, wax and vape products, as well as several hundred flavored nicotine vapes, police said.
About $30,160 in cash was also recovered and was believed to be proceeds from drug transactions, according to police. Detectives also seized a switchblade knife, a money counter, multiple drug scales and assorted drug packaging materials.
During the investigation, police also arrested Persephone Abert, 22, of New Hyde Park.
Acquafredda and Abert were each charged with multiple counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, including three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, as well as criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth and fifth degrees. Both also were charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and criminal possession of cannabis in the first degree.
Acquafredda faced additional charges, including another count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, three additional counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree and criminal sale of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, police said. The two were scheduled to be arraigned Aug. 7 in First District Court in Hempstead.
