Walmart partnered with the Seaford Harbor Elementary School PTA this month to celebrate local educators during Teacher Appreciation Week, donating $1,500 and providing gifts and supplies to honor teachers and staff.
The retail giant donated snacks and supplies for more than 200 educators to celebrate and recognize school employees, while also providing three 55-inch Vizio televisions that were awarded during a Teacher Appreciation Week trivia game. The televisions were later donated back to the Seaford School District for student use.
According to Seaford Harbor Elementary Principal Jennifer Bisulca, one television will remain at the elementary school and be mounted in the cafeteria to display announcements and student photos, while the other two were donated to the middle school and high school.
“We’re grateful for the opportunity to celebrate Seaford’s teachers and school staff, whose dedication makes a lasting difference for students and families every day,” a Walmart spokesperson said. Bisulca agreed that Teacher Appreciation Week is an important opportunity to recognize the work educators do every day for students and families.
“Our teachers really work hard every single day to make our school a warm and welcoming place for students,” Bisulca said. “They really give 100 percent, so it’s important for us to acknowledge them.”
She added that teachers in Seaford Harbor Elementary go beyond classroom instruction by building strong relationships with students and families while creating supportive learning environments.
“They build nice connections with the families and the students so that they can work together in a partnership,” Bisulca said. “Everybody knows that home-school connection is the most important.”
Bisulca also said community partnerships with organizations like Walmart help educators feel valued and recognized.
“It means a lot,” she said. “It means that they’re recognizing that this profession is not just a profession — it’s a calling, and it’s something that needs to be honored and acknowledged.”
