As has been the case for decades, there are more career opportunities for those with college degrees than those without. The Great Recession of 2007-09 proved that point. While the unemployment rate for those without university degrees soared into the double digits, it remained below 5 percent — full employment — for those with a college education, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

owling Green Elementary School’s Bee Green Environmental Student Club collected dozens of cell phones and delivered them to Senator Kemp Hannon’s office in Garden City, which is registered as an official drop-off site for Cell Phones for Soldiers, which is a nonprofit organization that collects unwanted cell phones and sells them to ReCellular. The revenue is then used to buy millions of prepaid calling cards for U.S. troops overseas.

The students spoke, and they wanted to play board games. District 13 held its annual student-chosen theme day on June 13, Board Games Day. Children got to vote for a theme day when their parents came for the school budget vote and Board of Education election on May 18.
