The Twibles stood on their front stoop on June 1, staring at a sea of supporters gathered on their lawn to celebrate yet another momentous occasion in a year full of generous acts for the benefit of the East Meadow family. Shelby Soodek has played a big part in the Clarke Lady Rams’ softball team’s success this season, but you won’t see her name on any of the games’ stat sheets. Soodek, 20, who has autism, has been an honorary team member, joining the girls regularly for practices and cheering them on from the dugout at home games. more

Alison and Emily Carman, sisters at W.T. Clarke Middle School, sold hot chocolate last Saturday in front of their East Meadow home to raise money to find a cure for epidermolysis bullosa. Their friend Robbie Twible, center, an eighth-grader at Clarke, has E.B. Perched atop Emily was Robbie’s 7-year-old sister, Allison.
