The 100th day of school was a milestone for kindergartners and first-graders at Wantagh Elementary School on Feb. 10.
The classrooms were abuzz as students, with the help of their teachers and parent volunteers, participated in a variety of activities that were both fun and educational. Children made necklaces using 100 Fruit Loops, looked for 100 words around the room, stacked 100 cups, filled bags with 100 goodies and did 100 exercises.
Many of the students dressed up like they were 100 years old, coloring their hair gray, wearing suspenders or using a cane. For the kindergartners, they hit an important mark in their education careers, but have about 2,200 more school days left before they get their high school diplomas.
