14-year-old robbed in Franklin Square

A 14-year-old male was robbed while riding his bicycle in Franklin Square on Aug. 16, Nassau County police report.

According to detectives, the victim was riding his bicycle on Hempstead Turnpike at around 12:25 p.m., when he was approached by two unknown male suspects in a gray Volkswagen Jetta. The suspects exited the vehicle and proceeded to shove him on the ground. One of them then took the teenager’s bicycle and fled westbound on Hempstead Turnpike, while the other returned to the car, which was driven by another suspect, and fled eastbound on Hempstead Turnpike.

One suspect is described as a black male who is around 15 to 16-years-old and who was wearing a black doo rag. The second suspect is described as an older black male with a mustache. A description of the driver is not available at this time.

The incident is still under investigation, and detectives request that anyone with information about the robbery call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
