Peter And The Wolf

The beloved story of Peter and the Wolf remains a holiday classic with families. Nassau County Museum of Art is the setting for the holiday treat, performed by the Long Island Philharmonic’s Woodwind Quintet. The concert unfolds in story and music as an actor portrays Peter, and as other story characters, each represented by an instrument, are introduced to the audience.

Waldorf Choral Society

The Waldorf Choral Society, under the direction of George V. Rose, begins its 44th season this weekend with its annual holiday concert. Accompanied by harpist Rita Constanzi, a string ensemble, and vocal soloists Elizabeth Farnham and Vaughan Fritts, the chorus presents a holiday program including Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, Franz Schubert’s Mass in G, and Gabriel Faure’s Cantique de Jean Racine.

“Christmas at Coe Hall”

The Gold Coast’s Coe Hall Mansion, adorned in magical Christmas décor, is the setting for “A Voice, A Guitar and Thou.” Guitarist Andrew Schulman, and vocalist Wendy Savitz perform classical holiday favorites, and traditional songs from around the globe, with a touch of whimsy thrown in for good cheer. It’s a splendid holiday celebration for all!

Flute Tootin’ Holiday Tunes

The Long Island Flute Club brings some holiday cheer to Old Westbury Gardens with its program of seasonal classics. The 16-piece ensemble, featuring all members of the flute family from piccolo to bass flute performs a variety of classics that are guaranteed to put everyone in the spirit of the season.

The ensemble, directed by Lauren Osnato, will play festive classics, such as “O Come, O Ye Faithful” and “A Christmas Overture” to “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers” and “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”.

Members of this year’s Holiday Flute Choir include Rockville Centre’s Christins Stavrou and Charlotte Loake of North Merrick, along with Lauren Osnato, Heide Adler, Michele Awah, Marissa Caliguri, Maria DiNatale Scotto, Bridgette Funaro, Samantha Harris, Nancy Lopez, Samantha Pappas, Frances Piazza, Deborah Schild, Conchetta and Leah Stevens, Edna Sussman, and Sandra Vigliotti.

Opera And Song By Favrile

Nassau County Museum of Art celebrates the start of the holiday season with a twilight concert by Favrile. This special presentation of opera and song is performed by an ensemble of musicians, including bass Lawrence Long, tenor Douglas Purcell, soprano Rachel Rosales, mezzo-soprano Leslie Valentine, and pianist Esther Schwartz. They’ll present a program of melodies and arias from some of the best-loved operas.

A Peter White Christmas

Guitarist Peter White brings his smooth jazz stylings to the Intermedia Art Center for a jazzy holiday concert, joined by saxophonist Mindi Abair and trumpeter Rick Braun. The affable Englishman's charm and playfulness comes through in his music, giving his style of smooth jazz a liveliness that comes through in his albums and in concert. With Mindi Abair’s contemporary jazz laces with R&B/soul rhythms pop melodies and Rick Braun’s soulful melodies and forceful funk, this concert features a crowd-pleasing holiday vibe.

Holiday Classics With Bel Canto Chorale

The Bel Canto Chorale of Wantagh celebrates its 40th anniversary with Alleluias, Spirituals and Holiday Songs, at its annual holiday concert.
