Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts, the renowned summer arts day camp in Wheatley Heights (Huntington), collaborated on a new project with the famous Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) Summer Youth Program to write a dramatic piece on a specific theme. The theme chosen was War, and creative writing students aged 11-18 wrote monologues and scenes around it: the soldiers, families, refugees, politicians, profiteers and other areas, in a hard-hitting piece performed in front of an audience on Friday July 26 at the BAM Fisher, BAM's newest space for drama.
Performers included professional actors and also Usdan and BAM students.
Usdan Center, now in its 46th year, has introduced the arts to more than 60,000 students ages 6 to 18, many on scholarship.
