Hundreds of friends and family attended the Timothy J. Motherway Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser held last Saturday at the Commuters Club on Ocean Avenue in East Rockaway. The funds raised at this second annual event will go to a graduating student at East Rockaway High School — Motherway’s alma mater.
Motherway, of East Rockaway, died in an early morning car accident on Mar. 7, 2009, as he was returning from his night shift as a technician with Cablevision. He was just a few yards from his doorstep. Born on Sept. 24, 1973, Motherway graduated from East Rockaway High School in 1991 and Briarcliffe College in 2000. Motherway was one of five children of Denis and Margaret Motherway, which included siblings Kathryn, Denis, Kelly, and Michael.
