Grieco, who will celebrate her 50th birthday next month, was honored for volunteering with the ministry for more than 10 years.
The youth ministry, officials said, includes nearly 50 high school teens who participate in several meetings and activities at the church each month.
During the party, several members spoke about Grieco’s kind personality and numerous efforts to go the extra mile to help others.
“Anything that you ask ‘Sue’ to do, she will do it,” said the Rev. Frank Parisi, pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes. “She always gives 110 percent ... and she’s just a really great person.”
When she asked for volunteers to help with the youth ministry in September 1998, Linda Baldacchino, the youth minister, noted that Grieco was the only person to raise her hand. Since then, Grieco has traveled to different countries with the ministry and provided leadership for the teens during church retreats, among other events.
“She is an amazing person,” Baldacchino said in a poem she wrote about Grieco. “That’s all I can say.”
The celebration featured games, great food, an award presentation and dozens of well wishes.
Grieco is also a photographer for the Herald Community Newspapers. The Herald staff extends its gratitude to her for always helping to provide its readers with their weekly community news. The Herald wishes her a happy birthday.
