A mission in Rockville Centre to give back

Five years ago, when the Sandel Senior Center knitting group learned that wheelchair-bound veterans at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Northport needed lap blankets, knitting needles and crochet hooks started flying. In no time at all, 40 colorful and cozy blankets were produced and delivered to grateful veterans. Sandel members have repeated this project and increased the number of blankets every year since.

Part of the mission of the Sandel Center Club is to give meaningful service back to the community. This is just one of the many ways that its volunteers fulfill that mission.

There are many opportunities for volunteer work at the Sandel Center. Rockville Centre residents, age 60 and above are invited to join.
