A not-so-silent night in Valley Stream

Almost 600 Valley Stream residents braved the cold on Dec. 7 for their chance to meet Santa Claus.

“Everyone was smiling and happy,” said Mayor Ed Fare. “It was so, so great to see.”

Santa arrived that night on a fire truck at around 6:15 p.m., then helped the mayor and the village board light the village’s Christmas tree. More than 200 children and their families then gathered inside the Henry Waldinger Memorial Library for the mayor’s story time and movies before they took photos with Santa.
